All the freezing fog photos were taken 1/20-1/21/09 on Hwy 97 between I-84 to the North and Madras to the South. We live in Hermiston and were taking a trip to Redmond. We take I84 to 97 and then go South. It was foggy all the way, but once we got on 97, after a few miles everything started turning white - no snow, just ice crystals from the fog!
Now, as far as the old folks humor goes - the only reason I share it is because I relate to it - I certainly don't mean for any of it to make someone feel bad - I hope you got a chuckle. I don't know how old you are, but I'm old for my age. Haven't been able to work since I was 54 - my dad is 90 and I'm certain that he gets around better than I do! When I poke fun, the poker is usually pointed at me, but I really can appreciate that when a person reads some of the humor, it reminds them of what they aren't anymore - it does me anyway - sorry if I caused you any grief :-{
Now as for my Camera; I lost all of my good camera equipment a few years back and didn't have the funds to replace it, so I bought a rather inexpensive 10 MP Canon Power Shot A640, which is what I use now.
I was pretty disappointed with the performance, and actually quit taking photos much for a couple years. But when I got my photo editing software again, I was able to tweak a lot of them to be acceptable - so there you have it. For the average person, this camera will work just fine and you can get good shots - my issue was taht I enlarge photos to about 2'x3' to make large prints, and even though its a 10MP, when you enlarge the photos that much , they are very grainy - but most people don't do that. So before this post becomes a novel - my camera is a Canon A640. Thank you so much for your kind comments. I will keep trying to take photos that people enjoy :-}OregonArtGuyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17622637888877307817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2161732031968775963.post-90738710034378326922009-02-02T06:02:00.000-08:002009-02-02T06:02:00.000-08:00AVCr8teur: Hi: thanks for the comment. As for the roller coaster - I don't think its the same one, but those old wooden ones were scary. It wasn't actually the roller coaster that went over the watr, it was another ride, but it was pretty cool to a 12 year old :-}OregonArtGuyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17622637888877307817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2161732031968775963.post-21153413020295212582009-02-01T22:12:00.000-08:002009-02-01T22:12:00.000-08:00From those pictures, I would've thought you lived ...From those pictures, I would've thought you lived in the North Pole. The second photo really made me chuckle. I have never seen frozen fog and then frozen fog going sideways?! That's amazing!

Regarding your comment about Pacific Ocean Park, I don't know if I responded to you. They said the mind is the first to go. In any case, your description reminds me of the wooden roller coaster at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk although it doesn't go over the ocean otherwise, I would not have ridden it.AVCr8teurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17791962268368737548noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2161732031968775963.post-34075520501042765002009-02-01T12:34:00.000-08:002009-02-01T12:34:00.000-08:00Holy Cow...did you really shoot these photos where...Holy Cow...did you really shoot these photos where you are living in Oregon? Wow. Wow. Wow. I never saw that kind of ice before. the wind blown stuff is simply mind boggling to me. I hope it warms up a bit for you soon.

Your "old people" humor hits home, as I am quite a bit older than you are...so I don't know whether to laugh or cry at some of it. ;-)

I am so impressed by your photography! What camera do you use may I ask? Although I know the art comes from the eye of the man behind the camera!Lynn Cohenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12094038275377357886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2161732031968775963.post-16901820999181764402009-01-31T16:42:00.000-08:002009-01-31T16:42:00.000-08:00Hi Sue:Thanks for the comments - All these pics we...Hi Sue:
Thanks for the comments - All these pics were just one day, and not where I am - its still cold here, but not like that! I was up in Salem this week and couldn't wait to get down to some sunshine. The freezing fog photos are interesting. I think the stop sign one is most interesting.

Thank you for becoming a follower of my blog and for adding me to your favorites list. I am honored, truly, but didn't your mother teach you anything about following strangers around?

Thank you again, and stay "tooned."

Banana Belt RickRickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07965400321043093038noreply@blogger.com
